Prisoners alone under the said Act of Parliament would ann<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
in the time of Peace Amount to the Sum of £150 and that Mr<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
Hall the Keeper of the said <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO55607_geo327">Bridewell</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMGO55607_geo327" type="placeName" value="Bridewell"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSMGO55607_geo327" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
has not annually belive<lb></lb>
for the discharge of such prisoners as under this Act would<lb></lb>
burther the County with so heavy a charge more than about<lb></lb>
That Mr. Hall hath as Keeper of the said <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO55607_geo328">Bridewell</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMGO55607_geo328" type="placeName" value="Bridewell"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSMGO55607_geo328" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
a Yearly<lb></lb>
Allowance or Sallary from the County of £50 and that 5/6<lb></lb>
the Fee usually taken and allowed for the discharge of each prison<lb></lb>
The Committee therefore asked Mr. Hall whether he would take<lb></lb>
a certain allowance for his contingent benefit under the said<lb></lb>
Statute and Mr. Hall having there upon made the following<lb></lb>
proposal Vizt. That during the time of Peace he is willing to<lb></lb>
relinguish his Sallary or allowance from the County of Fifty<lb></lb>
Pounds a Year and foregs all benefit that might Accrue to him<lb></lb>
under this late Act of Parliament upon Condition that the fee<lb></lb>
due upon the discharge of every prisoner out of his Custody Exec<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
Such as shall come within the meaning of the said Act of<lb></lb>
Parliament and be discharged under the same be raised to 10.<lb></lb>
but that in the time of War his said allowance or Sallary be<lb></lb>
restored or continued to him It is the Opinion of the<lb></lb>
Committee that the said proposal is a reasonable proposal<lb></lb>
and that the agreeing to the same will be of Great advantage<lb></lb>
to the County by making a Saving to the County of 200l P Annum That<lb></lb>
the raising a Fee for the discharge of a Prisoner will not be<lb></lb>
oppresive to the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMGO55607_occ122">Individual</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMGO55607_occ122" type="occupation" value="Individual"></interp>
as Advantageous to the public by<lb></lb>
increasing the Punishment of Real Offenders against the La<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
and Peace of the Community and thence by creating a greate<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
difficulty of getting out of Confinement deter persons from<lb></lb>
committing those Offences which may incur such a Punish<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
and the Committee do therefore healthly recommend it to the<lb></lb>
Court to close with the said proposal</p>
<p n="291">It was Moved and Seconded that so much of the<lb></lb>
said Report as last abovesaid be referred back to the said Commen<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
and the same being Resolved It is Ordered that so much of the<lb></lb>
said Report as last above said be referred back to the said Comm<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
for their further Consideration thereof</p>
