<p n="320">The Comittee observe that the said Norris was a Stranger in the <lb></lb>
County of Middx that his constant Residence is in the County <lb></lb>
of <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO40000_geo212">Bedford</rs>

<interp inst="LMSMGO40000_geo212" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
, nor had he any other Recomendacon for So <lb></lb>
extraordinary an Office but the bare word of a Trustee, <lb></lb>
for whose sake it was thought pper to make an Officer <lb></lb>
not heard of in other Turnpikes, and that with a very <lb></lb>
extravagant Salary.</p>

Ordered That each Surveyor Vizt. Marsh Halstead & Edwards have <lb></lb>
a yearly Salary of 30th.</p>
<p n="322">Edward's Salary Encreased to 40th. P Ann</p>
<p n="323">The Comittee observe that these Salarys are much Larger<lb></lb>
then are given in other Turnpikes nor can they apprehend <lb></lb>
the reason for it, unless the Relation between the <lb></lb>
Surveyors and some of ye, Trustees be considered</p>

"Ordered that where Ditches belonging to the Highways are <lb></lb>
"cleansed, or new Ditches made in the Highways where <lb></lb>
"the Passages are Stopt to houses or Lands, That the <lb></lb>
"Inhitants of the houses & Occupiers of the Lands are <lb></lb>
"to build Bridges to the Houses and Lands and not <lb></lb>
"the Trustees</p>
<p n="325">The Comittee are of Opinion that this is directly contrary to <lb></lb>
the Letter, intent & meaning of the said Act and think <lb></lb>
themselves obliged to take notice of this Order of the said <lb></lb>
Trustees because several of the Land holders in the Parish <lb></lb>
of <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO40000_geo213">Islington</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMGO40000_geo213" type="placeName" value="Islington"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSMGO40000_geo213" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
complained to us that the Trustees had caused <lb></lb>
Ditches to be made between the Highways and their <lb></lb>
Lands and had refused to build Bridges so that they <lb></lb>
were shut out of their Lands and the tho' they had made <lb></lb>
application to the Trustees Yet could have<obscured></obscured>
Redress, <lb></lb>
nor do we find that this Order if reversed or any <lb></lb>
Notice taken of the Complaint.</p>

"Bushel of Ballast in a Load or else to forfeit the <lb></lb>
