for Himself says that Yesterday afternoon about one<lb></lb>
o Clock Missing a pair of Sheets and a Countepain which had<lb></lb>
been bring in his Yard to Dry and Suspecting they were Stolen<lb></lb>
He went in Search of them that on a Demghill under some long<lb></lb>
Stran He found a Counterpain concealed which taking Home<lb></lb>
was proved by his Wife to be the one Missing that Thinking<lb></lb>
the Person or Persons who did the said Counterpain as aforesaid<lb></lb>
Might return in the Evening to fetch the same away This In-<lb></lb>
formant placed it as He had found it that with his Servant<lb></lb>

that said Evening this Informant Saw Two Men coming<lb></lb>
toward the aforesaid Dunghill one of the said then said He<lb></lb>
would go and Shit Jumped over a Ditch and immediately went<lb></lb>
to the Spot where the Counterpain was concealed and took it<lb></lb>
up in his Hand that this Informant attempted to Sure<obscured></obscured>

said Men who ran away and Jumped into the Ditch when<lb></lb>
this Informant fired a Pistol into the Bank in order to verify<lb></lb>
the said Men and make Them Surrender that He took in Custody<lb></lb>
the Prisoner who calls Himself <rs type="persName" id="LMOBPS45033_n744-3">George Smith</rs>

that Yesterday Evening about Six o Clock being<lb></lb>
with his Master on the Watch if any Person came to fetch away<lb></lb>
the Counterpain hid as aforesaid saw a Man come to the said<lb></lb>
Dunghill and instantly take up the said Counterpain that<lb></lb>
this Informant pursued the said Man who had Jumped into<lb></lb>

Ditch of Water whereby He had Wetted Himself and lost his<lb></lb>
Shoes that at a little Distance from the said Ditch this Informant<lb></lb>
found a Man laying under the Fenee very Wett and without Shoes<lb></lb>
whom He believes to be the Man he had Pursued</p>
