from behind one of the Gentlemen from the Seat of the Coach</p>

Posts by Farmer Dells they met four persons who were in Conversation<lb></lb>
together That Caddie and Stunnel who were fore most past them<lb></lb>
and Gray who was next to them on passing one of the Gentlemen who<lb></lb>
just had mentioned to one of his Company something he had done<lb></lb>
seized hold of the Gentleman by the Collar who was a stoutish<lb></lb>
man and said "And I'll do you". On this the persons they met<lb></lb>
defended themselves and A scuffle ensued among them all<lb></lb>
That one of the persons they attacked snap't a pistol twice<lb></lb>
at this Examinant and his Companions which missed fire<lb></lb>
whereupon this Examinant fired a Pistol at the other party<lb></lb>
but it took no Effect hereupon the party they met ran away<lb></lb>
towards <rs type="placeName" id="LMOBPS45026_geo1123">Islington</rs>

and this Examinant and his Companions<lb></lb>
pursued them about seventy yards and overtook two of them<lb></lb>
That Gray and Stunnel who were before overtook one of them<lb></lb>
about Twenty or thirty yards before the other, and believes<lb></lb>
that the person over taken by Stunnel and Gray was Mr.<lb></lb>
Herd deceased. That this Examinant and Caddie overtook the<lb></lb>
Hinder most whom Caddie threw down into a Ditch and then went<lb></lb>
on to assist the others leaving this Examinant behind with the<lb></lb>
Man he had thrown down who appeared to him to be a Servant<lb></lb>
That this Examinant demanded the last mentioned persons Money<lb></lb>
on his Refusal to give it he cut him with a Hanger, he believes<lb></lb>
in the Hard and to then took from him five or six Shillings, a<lb></lb>
Soldiers Pass or Furlough and a Bill of Expences at an Inn on</p>
