.</p>
<p n="1965">The minutes of the joint Committee of the 6th. of January Instant<lb></lb>
convened upon the vacancy of the Office of Clerk to consider what has been<lb></lb>
or ought to be its duty and Salary were read whereby it appeared.</p>
<p n="1966">That the Committee were of opinion that a Clerk is necessary</p>
<p n="1967">And were further of opinion that the duties of the Office are<lb></lb>
sufficiently laid down and explained in Payer 32 & 33 of the<lb></lb>
printed Book of the standing Rules and Orders and that the<lb></lb>
some connected with the other Standing rules and Ordered were<lb></lb>
and ought to be the duties of Clerk to these Hospitals.</p>
<p n="1968">That the Treasurer had communicated to the Committee a Letter<lb></lb>
he received from the Revd. <rs type="persName" id="BBBRMG20210_n1968-1">Thos. Bowen</rs>

<interp inst="BBBRMG20210_n1968-1" type="surname" value="Bowen"></interp>

respecting the fee usually<lb></lb>
paid by new Governors on receiving their charge Whereupon<lb></lb>
a motion was made and Seconded that the Clerk be permitted<lb></lb>
" to receive for his own use the fee usually given by a new Governor<lb></lb>
" on receiving his charge" but the previous question being<lb></lb>
moved and put whether the said question be then put the<lb></lb>
same was resolved in the negative.</p>
<p n="1969">That the Committee were of opinion that a Salary of £200<lb></lb>
Pr. Annm with the other Emoluments incident to his situation<lb></lb>
should be continued to the future Clerk, but that he should<lb></lb>
not have or receive any perquisites from the Hospitals.</p>
<p n="1970">Resolved unanimously that the Court do agree with the report of the<lb></lb>
Committees respecting the duties and Salary of Clerk except as to that part<lb></lb>
which respects the fee hither to given to the Clerk by Governors on receiving<lb></lb>
their charge.</p>

Resolved unanimously that in future no fee shall be permitted to be<lb></lb>
taken by the Clerk or any other person on reading the charge on the admission<lb></lb>
of a Governor and</p>
<p n="1972">That a Copy of this resolution be annexed to the letter sent to each new<lb></lb>
Governor by the future Clerk informing him of his Election.</p>

Resolved unanimously that the future Clerk do give Security for the<lb></lb>
faithful performance of the various trust consided to him himself in<lb></lb>
£1000 and two other Securities in £500. each.</p>
