Committee for Building Black friers Bridge but they Apprehend the

This Committee having already Presented to a former General Court

Report but they think it Incumbent on them to declare their Concern that many

Regulations which Appeared to them to be very Salutary for those good proposes

by the Committee on full Conviction of their Utility at present to prevent in

future such Losses and Inconveniencies as have lately happen'd thro' the

In attention or Neglect of those whose duly it was to Inspect and Report

the State of these Hospitals to the Court and it being represented to this

Committee that the certain Revenues of these Hospitals were not sufficient to

>
defray the certain expences they thought it Incumbent on them tom further the

>
Plan of Asconomy adopted by the General Court in letting the House

lb
>
Inhabited by the late treasurer to point out wherein there might be some

lb
>
Savings of the Outgoings of these Hospitals in future and it was with

lb
>
Concern this Committee perceived their good Intentions frustrated by the

Increase of Salaries Unsolicited and to take place immediately and this at

a time when the Accounts had not been Audited for the four preceding

Years and consequently the several Proportions of the Annual Receipts and

Disbursements could not be ascertained

This Committee having exerted their utmost and impartial endeavours

throughout their whose proceedings for the benefit of these Hospitals cannot

help

Hospitals cannot help

expressing their dissatisfaction at the Treatment

they received from some governors which in their Opinion was derogatory from the

good Order and decency of so respectable a Court

And this Committee do further Report that the following five

Legacies two of which are conditional and three Reversionary which have

been bequeathed to these Hospitals do not Appear to have been received

and therefore do recommend to the General Court that the Clerk do

make all necessary Enquires after the same and Report the Information he
<

receives to the House Committee who may be empowered to give such further
<

Directions therein as they think fit and Report their proceedings to the
