<p n="3132"> Previous Binding.<lb></lb>
Flexibly sewn on six raised bands, though only five band were usually<lb></lb>
caught up on sewing each Section. This Volume was half bound in brown<lb></lb>
Goat Skin, With Stormont Marbled paper sided on laminated rope-fibre<lb></lb>
millboards. The endpapers were white, and there is evidence of green<lb></lb>
and orange head bands having been used. The presence of unused sewing<lb></lb>
holes in the spine indicates that this was not its original binding.</p>
<p n="3133">The raised bands were decorated by the use of plain and decorative<lb></lb>
pallets. Fragments of lettering from the 2nd and 3rd panels have been<lb></lb>
retained and are now positioned at the front of the volume. A small<lb></lb>
decorative roll was used to edge the leather in gold at the spine and<lb></lb>
Corners.</p>
<p n="3134">Repair.<lb></lb>
Deacidified with a 50% solution of Calcium hydroxide, and repaired as<lb></lb>
necessary with Bodleian hand made repair paper, silk chiffon lisse,<lb></lb>
bank paper and lens tissue using starch paste. Red ink on the Index<lb></lb>
leaves was protected using 4% N-Methoxymethyl Nylon.</p>
<p n="3135">Binding.<lb></lb>
Rebound using ' Oasis Nigerian Goat Skin' treated with Potassium lactate.<lb></lb>
The marbled paper sides were made at 'The Compton Press, Tisbury' .<lb></lb>
Starch paste has been used throughout, except for glueing and lining the<lb></lb>
spine, where Polyvinyl acetate was used.</p>
