<p n="881">"to the Committee of which a Copy is now in their possession I also<lb></lb>
"expressed my displeasure to the Workmen (for the Contractor himself<lb></lb>
"I never saw at the Building) and particularly at one time observing<lb></lb>
"not a single Shore on the floor of one House to support it tho'<lb></lb>
"all the partitions were removed I told the workmen that some<lb></lb>
"accident would certainly happen if more care was not taken. For<lb></lb>
"further particulars as to their disregard of caution and advice I<lb></lb>
"beg leave to refer to the Labourer in trust's account who speaks to<lb></lb>
"those facts I have also again to observe that the Plans & particulars<lb></lb>
"are plain and explanatory and were allowed to be so by all the<lb></lb>
"Workmen who made offers for doing the business, & the Contractor<lb></lb>
"was pointedly asked that question by the Committee & surely<lb></lb>
"the Committee will think if the Contractor discovered in the<lb></lb>
"progress of the work any thing that rendered the business either<lb></lb>
"dangerous or impracticable (neither of which I by any means<lb></lb>
"allow to be the case) it was his duty to point it out and call<lb></lb>
"for advice. On the whole I have not the smallest doubt but that<lb></lb>
"the work might have been carried into execution by any careful<lb></lb>
"Workman but that this might not rest on my Assertion singly<lb></lb>
"I have desired the opinion of some of the most respectable and<lb></lb>
"skilful Builders in the City of London whose report fully<lb></lb>
"corroborates my own and their Certificate to that Effect marked<lb></lb>
"No. 1. accompanies this letter."</p>

"Mr. Delights report"</p>
<p n="883">"To give more authenticity to the fact the Labourer in trust has<lb></lb>
"made an Affidavit to the circumstances that come within his<lb></lb>
"knowledge and is the paper marked No. 2"</p>
<p n="884">"Mr. Creswell the Surveyor who for me and at my desire during<lb></lb>
"my confinement prepared and drew up the particulars of the work<lb></lb>
"has also made an Affidavit of its practicability & is marked No. 3</p>

"Having now laid all these papers before the Committee which<lb></lb>
"I think a justice due to myself I have nothing further to add<lb></lb>
