. The prisoner came into my shop upon the 19th of February, and asked to see a pair of stockings; I shewed her some stockings; then she asked to see some check, she did not like that; she said she would go and inform her sister, and went out. I missed 5 s. worth of halfpence from the counter; I went and brought the prisoner back, and my wife found the half-pence in her bosom; then she confessed she came to the shop with an intention to steal any thing she could.
Prisoner's Defence.
The half-pence were my own.
She called her mother who said she had always behaved well previous to this charge.
