98. (L.) Ann Nelson proceedingsdefend , Spinster , was indicted for stealing one wooden washing tub, val. 3 s. the property of Thomas Morton proceedingsvictim , one pair of woman's clogs; val. 3 d. the property of Thomas Miller proceedingsvictim , Feb. 6 . ++

Mary Miller < no role > . My husband's name is Thomas, I went to Mr. Morton's house in Lad-Lane, about a fortnight ago, and my clogs which I had pulled off a little time, were taken way; I did not see them taken, but they were brought back. (Produced in court;) they are my property.

Mary Parrock < no role > . I live servant with Mr. Morton, about a fortnight ago, I don't know the day of the month, I was informed a woman had taken a tub out of our cellar; I followed her, she was got near Cheapside, and found it was the prisoner; shehad got a washing tub the property of Mr. Morton, and the clogs here produced.

Prisoner's Defence.

I had been at work, and a woman bid me take those things, saying, they belonged to her, she was to give me 2 d. to carry them to Alderman-bury ; she went away, I never saw her since.

Q. to M. Parrock. Did she say, a woman told her they were her things when she was taken?

M. Parrock. No, my lord, she did not.
