Michael Vine proceedingsdefend , of St. Mary Le Bow , was indicted for privately stealing a Silk Handkerchief value 2 s. from the Person of James Cooper proceedingsvictim , on the 29th of July last. The Prosecutor deposed, that the Prisoner and another jostled him and past by, that he had a suspicion of them and afterwards found them as making Water; that the Prisoner kept close to him, and he feeling of him draw his Handkerchief out of his Pocket at the end of Bow-Lane , took him by the Collar and found it in his Hand-before he could put it up. The Prisoner denied the Fact, and said he was prosecuted out of an old Grudge: but could not prove it or call any to his Reputation. The Jury considering the matter found him guilty to the value of 10 d . Transportation .
