John Green proceedingsdefend , of St. Brides , was indicted for privately stealing a Silk Handkerchief value 1 s.6 d. from the Person of John Russel proceedingsvictim , on the 14th of July last. The Prosecutor deposed that he saw the Prisoner pick his Pocket of his Handkerchief on Long Hill , and run away with it. The Prisoner in his Defence said, that he had been at his Sisters, and seeing a Crow'd on Long Hill, stopt to see what was the matter, and the Prosecutor followed him and charged him with the Fact, which he said he was innocent of. But the Prosecutor, was very politive that he was the Person. The Jury found him Guilty to the value of 10 d. Transportation .
