William Stanton proceedingsdefend and Thomas Bell proceedingsdefend , of the Parish of St. Michael Queen-hith , were Indicted for feloniously stealing a Sculler-boat, value 50 s. from George Bignall proceedingsvictim , and two Sculls, value 3 s. from Nicholas Gilbert proceedingsvictim , on the 21st of September last. There was no Evidence that saw the Prisoners take the Boat from the place where it was lost, or the Sculls; and the Prisoners alledging their Innocence, saying that they had been drinking at the five Bells in Wood-street with a Friend, and staying late, they came to Queen-hith and called for a Sculler, but none came; at last they went over some Lighters, where they step'd into the Boat and was taken. The Jury acquitted them.
