Elinor Pelsome proceedingsdefend was Tried for stealing 12 Pair of Stockins, val 9 s. on the 18th. of September last, the Goods of Jane Wells proceedingsvictim , Wid She came to the shop to cheapen some Worsted, and got the Stockins under her Coat , which were found about her before she got away, with a Flesh hook also to hook any thing off a shelf, or the like: Being asked what she did with the Hook, she answered, That she found it lying on the ground near a Butcher's-stall, but she had no Witnesses; so she was found Guilty of Felony.
