Examination TextSarah Baker aged 21 Years removed from St. Andrew Holborn her Oath saith that she was never Married nor bound Apprentice , that she was a yearly hired servant with Mr James Stoddart No 400 in the Strand in the Parish of Saint Martin in the ffields within the liberty of Westminster for the space of Eighteen Months all under one hiring at the Yearly Wages of Eight Guineas diet & lodging quitted the same in April 1791 since which is she hath not been a yearly hired Servant in any one place for Twelve Months together not done any Act to gain a subsequent Settlement. And this Examinant upon her voluntary Oath further saith that she is no great with Child or Children , who is or are likely to be born a Bastard or Bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of Saint Martin in the ffields and that he Person whose name she believed to be John ffield had frequent carnal Knowledge of her Body at a House No 7 in little Winchester Street and that one of which Times did beget her with their Child or Children which she now goeth with & is pregnant of and that he the said John ffield is the true and only ffather thereof & no Man else but where his Residence is she knoweth not, nor where he is to be found. Sworn this 28th Day of July 1792 before me Wm Hyde. Sarah Baker her Mark.
