Examination TextThe Examination of Ann Withers passed from the Parish of St. Mary le Strand within the liberty of Westminster to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields in the said liberty taken upon oath this 12th Day of December in the year of our Lord 1767. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 29 years of age and upwards, that she never was married, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Julian a Baker the corner of Green Street in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of one whole year and upwards at the yearly wages of 7 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same last April, that she hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes since, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish St Martin in the Fields, and that Richard King a Wine Cooper and servant to Mr Welch a Wine Cooper in Green Street by Golden Square did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said Richard King is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Peter Planck.
