Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Langley in the Workhouse of and in the St. Martin in the Fields, passed from the Hamlet of Hammersmith in the Parish of Fulham in the County of Middlesex taken this 11th Day of February in the year 1773. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 50 years of age and upwards, that she is the widow of John Langley (who died the 31st March 1770) to whom she was married at the Parish Church of Tenbury in the County of Worcester the first Day of October in the year 1759, that her said husband served the last four years of his apprenticeship to Mr Wootton a Cabinet Maker in Bedfordbury in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields as her said husband hath informed this Examinant, that her said husband never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together to this Examinant's knowledge, that she this Examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since the death of her said husband, that she hath one child living by her said husband to wit Susanna aged six years and upwards now with this Examinant.
