Examination TextThe Examination of Elizabeth Miller in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this 21st Day of February 1775. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 28 years of age, that she is the widow of John Miller (who died three years ago), And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she was on the sixth of February instant delivered in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin the Fields of a female bastard child (since christened Sarah Catherine) yet living and is become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that Thomas Miller Footman to [blank] Picket Esq in Well Street Oxford Road had carnal knowledge of her body, but the particular time she cannot remember, at the house of Mr Tutat's a Merchant in Pudding Lane and several times in the said Mr Tutat's house at which or one of which times he the said Thomas Miller did beget on her body the said female bastard child, and that he the said Thomas Miller is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year above written before J. Treslove, and John Goodchild.
