Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Waters lodging at No.3 in Church Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this fourth Day of February in the year of our Lord 1785. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 33 years of age, that she never was married, that she was on the 11th Day of January last delivered at No.2 in Church Court aforesaid of a Male bastard child (not yet christened) yet living and is likely to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that Charles Matthews a Gentleman's Servant in White Hall did beget of her body the said Male bastard child, that he the said Charles Matthews is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year first above written before William Hyde, and J. Hale.
