| Examination Text | The Examination of Susannah Hilman lodging at Mrs Merry in Nags Head Yard in the Haymarket taken this 16th Day of October in the year 1784. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 20 years of age, that she never was married nor bound an apprentice, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Fortiscue in Northumberland Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of 13 months all under one hiring at the yearly wages of 5 pounds and five shillings diet and lodging, quitted the same upwards of 12 months ago, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now big with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and become chargeable to the said Parish St Martin in the Fields, and that William Jackson a Footman to Mr Kennedy at Knightsbridge had carnal knowledge of her body the latter end of the month of April last in and upon a bed in the fore Garrett at the apartment of Mr Buckingham's at the house of Mr Disor in Portland Street and several times afterwards in different places at which time or one which times he the said William Jackson did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant off, and that he the said William Jackson is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
