Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Hunt removed by an order of removal from the Parish of St Luke in the County of Middlesex to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this [blank] Day of [blank] 1781. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 40 years of age, that she is the wife of William Hunt (gone to sea) to whom she was married at the Parish Church of Sunderland about 25 years ago, that her said husband was born in the island of Guernsey as he hath informed her, that he was bred to the Sea, that he never was bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant by the year in any one place for 12 months together to her knowledge, that before her intermarriage to her said husband (being single and unmarried) she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Lacy a Fan maker in Dukes Court in Drury Lane in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of three years all under one hiring at the yearly wages of 4 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about 16 years ago, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since.
