Examination TextThomas Asbey aged about 32 years lodging at Mr Boyde a Victualler at the sign of the Bell in that part of Exeter Street which is in the Parish of St. Paul Covent Garden upon his oath saith that he was bound an apprentice by indenture for seven years to Mr Christopher Flaherty a Hatter in that part of Russell Street which is in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served his said Master all the said term out which expired about 11 years ago, that he hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, that he was married to his present wife Sarah at the Parish Church of St Giles in the Fields the 31st Day of December in the year 1770 by whom he hath six children to wit Elizabeth aged nine years and upwards, Ann aged eight years and upwards, Mary aged seven years and upwards, Thomas aged four years and upwards, Mary aged two years last August, and Reny aged six weeks all with this Examinant. Sworn the 20th Day of November 1780 before William Hyde.
