Examination TextThe Examination of Susannah Ann Wright lodging at Mr Herkes a Biscuit Baker in that part of New Street which is in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this 14th Day of January 1779. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 29 years of age, that she never was married bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that her father John Wright was a Brewers Servant and lived in and rented an house in Castle Street by Long Acre near Langley Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of eight years and upwards at the yearly rent of 9 pounds and paid the Kings Tax for the same, quitted the same about 29 years ago, that her Father hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since to her knowledge, And this Examinant on her oath further saith that she was on the first Day of January in the year 1778 delivered at the house of Mr Horkes in New Street in the Parish aforesaid of a female bastard child (since christened Mary) yet living and is become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that Thomas Parrayman a shoemaker who is absconded did beget on her body the said female bastard child, and that he the said Thomas Parrayman is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
