Examination TextThe Examination of Sarah Elbourn Removed by an Order of Two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace form the Parish of St Andrew Holborn above the Bars in the County of Middlesex to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields in the said County taken this 18th Day of January in the year 1785. This Examinant on her Oath saith that she is aged about 19 years, That she never was Married nor bound an Apprentice, That she was a yearly hired Servant to Mr. Hobson a Coach Carver in Langley Street in the said Parish of St Martin in the ffields for the space of one whole year all under one hiring at the yearly wages of four Pounds ten shillings diet and Lodging quitted the same about five months ago, That she hath not kept house rented a tenement of ten pounds by the year nor paid any Parish taxes since, And this Examinant on her Voluntary Oath further saith hat she is now big with Child or Children which is or are Likely to be Born a Bastard or Bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the ffields, And that Hugh Ford a Footman to Captn. Reynolds at Richmond had Carnal Knowledge of her Body some time in the month of July last in and upon a Bed in a room up One pair of stairs forwards at the said Mr. Reynolds and one other time afterwards in the same place at which time or one of which times he the said Hugh Ford did Beget her with Child or Children she now goeth with and is Pregnant off and that he the said Hugh Ford is the true and only Father thereof and no man else.
