Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Hand aged 40 years Removed by an Order of Removal of Two of his Majesty?s Justices of the Peace from the Parish of Saint Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex to the Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields in the Liberty of Westminster in the County aforesaid Taken this 31st Day of January 1781. This Examinant on her Oath saith that she is the Wife of George Hand (gone as a Marine in his Majesty?s Sea Service) to whom she was Married at the Parish Church of Saint Andrew Holborn in the City of London the Thirtieth Day of January about Two or Three and Twenty Years ago, That her said Husband was a Taylor by Trade and lived in and Rented man Apartment ([Vidilcet]) a First Floor with his Own Furniture at the House of Mr. Ferguson a Chandler the Corner of White Hart Court in Castle Street in the said Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields for the space of Six Months at the yearly Rent of Ten Pounds Quitted the same about Eighteen years ago, That her said Husband hath never kept house or rented a tenement of ten pounds by the year nor paid any Parish taxes since, That she hath Three Children by her said Husband (to wit) Phoebe aged Ten years and Silvannis aged Eight years and Elizabeth aged Four years all now with this Examinant. Sworn the 31st Day of January 1781, Before William Hyde.
