Examination TextAlexander Carmichael aged ffifty nine years (in the workhouse) Saith he was born in Scotland and came to England abt four years before the Death of King William that he is by trade a Taylor and learned some part of that Business of his ffather who agreed with one ffisher a Taylor in Hartshorn Lane to compleat him in the Knowledge of that Business and that he this Examinant agreed to serve the said ffisher ffour years certain and that the said ffisher agreed to instruct him as aforesaid and to allow him ffour pounds and a new Suit of Cloaths at the End of the time which said agreement was ffulfilled on both parts and he this Examinant served his said Master in Hartshorn Lane aforesaid the whole time and lodged there and that he never took any house or Shop of the yearly Rent of Ten pounds or upwards paid any parish Taxes or was a yearly hired Servant since Saith he was marryed to Eleanor his wife at Kingsale in Ireland twenty ffive years ago and hath three Children by her to wit John aged about twenty two years brought up a Sailor and now or late in India Eleanor about sixteen years a Servant in the Country and Thomas aged twelve years now at Home Sworn the Day of 173 Before
