Examination TextThe Examination of Martha Rowland passed from that part of the Parish of St Andrew Holborn, which lies above the Bars, in the county of Middx: to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields in the said county taken this 6th Day of November 1775. This Examinant on her Oath saith that she is about 20 years of age, That she is the Wife of Philip Rowland (now under sentence of Transportation in Newgate) to whom she was Married at the Parish of Church of St George Bloomsbury the 10th February 1773, That her said husband was bound an Apprentice by Indenture for seven years to Thomas Tweedy a shoemaker in Court, the upper end of Grays Inn Lane in the Parish first above written and there served his said Master about five years of the said term, and then his said Master assigned her said husband over to Willm. Wiseman a shoemaker in that part of Conduit Court which is in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and there served the said Wm. Wiseman the remainder of the said term out as she this Examinant hath been informed and verily believes, That her said husband hath not kept house rented a tenement of ten pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for twelve months together since the Expiration of his said Apprenticeship to this Examinant?s knowledge, That she hath one child living by her said husband to wit Philip aged about fourteen months now with this Examinant, And also that she is now pregnant. // Sworn the Day & Year first above written, Before
