Examination Text | Elizabeth Stuart aged 75 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Paul Stuart (who died 16 years ago), that since the death of her said husband (having only one child living who had gained himself a settlement) she this Examinant was a yearly hired servant to Mr Ayres in Cross Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of two years and eight months at the yearly wages of 3 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about two years ago, and that she hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since. Sworn the 27th Day of January 1766 before Peter Planck. |
