Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Tatley in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this 28th day of July 1775. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 46 years of age, that she is the wife of John Tatley (gone from her since the eighth day of March last) to whom she was married at the Fleet about 24 years ago, that her said husband was bound an apprentice (by the Trustees of St Martin's Grey Coat Charity Schools) by an indenture bearing date the 27th Day of November 1744 for the term of seven years to Richard Milson, a Glazier year near Dukes Court in St Martin's Lane in the Parish aforesaid and there served his said Master all the aforesaid term as her said husband hath informed this Examinant, that her said husband not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the expiration of his said apprenticeship to this Examinant's knowledge, that she hath one child by her said husband to wit John born at the 25th day of June last now with this Examinant.
