Examination TextRuth Carr aged near 40 years lodging at a Peruke Maker's in New Street saith she is the widow of Robert Carr (who died a year ago) to whom she was married at St Martin's Church 16 years ago, that he was by trade a Taylor and learnt that business of his Father at Kelsey in Scotland where he was born, and that he never kept a house rented £10 by the year paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant in England, nor she this Examinant since his death, that she hath no children by him, that before her marriage to her said husband she was a yearly hired servant to Major Bailey on the Paved Stones in St Martin's Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields whom she there served the space of one year and upwards, had 6 pounds by the year wages diet and lodging and married from that service. Sworn the 14th Day of September 1739 before me Val Hilder.
