Examination TextChristian Forster aged 67 years in the workhouse of saith she is the wife of Henry Forster (now living in Tilbury Fort an invalid) to whom she was married at St Martin's Church 19 years ago, that he was brought up to no trade, that he kept house in Black Boy Alley Long Acre in this Parish nine years, paid 9 pounds per ann. rent and 18 pence per quarter to the scavenger, came in that house three years after marriage and never kept any house rented 10 pounds per ann. paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant, that her husband was a Soldier when she married him and was born at Hamburgh, came over in King George the 1st's reign, that when she married him she was the widow of Thomas Anderson (who died four years before her second marriage), that she was married to him at the Cannongate in Edinburgh 49 years ago, that he was a Serjeant in the Scots Guards and that they kept part of a house of Mrs Riley, a Silver Smith in the Strand by Somerset House who kept several houses there and the house she lived in was let out in tenements (to wit) the shop next the Street, a cellar underneath the same and a roof backwards over the shop for which she and her husband paid 11 pounds per ann., but knows not whether they paid any taxes, that they rented lived in the said lodgings near nine years from thence, removed to Blackman Street in Southwark and kept house there five years, paid 4 pounds per ann. rent and no taxes there she remembers, and that they never kept any house or rented 10 pounds per ann. afterwards.
