Examination TextJane Mall aged 23 years lodging last night at Mr Cheeseborough's in Bear Street saith she is the wife of Robert Mall (gone from her about seven weeks and where he is now knows not), that he is by trade a Staymaker was born beyond Edinburgh in Scotland, and where he served his apprenticeship knows not, but believes with his Father in Scotland, and that he never kept house rented 10 pounds per ann. paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in England, that she was married to him at St Martin's Church eight years ago and has one child named Elizabeth aged six years born at Mrs Prichard's, a Bed Stead Maker in White Hart Yard in Drury Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields, that she this Examinant before she married her said husband was a yearly hired servant to one Mrs Griffiths, a Victualler who kept the sign of the Highlander in Shandois of Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields whom she served two years, had 3 pounds per ann. wages diet and lodging, left that service about eight or nine weeks before her marriage. Sworn this 29th day of May 1741 before me Val Hilder.
