Examination TextJane Roach aged 25 years in the workhouse of and belonging to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith she never was married was born in Cooper of Fife [sic] beyond Edinburgh and that her father John Roach who died about 16 years ago was a Farmer there, that she came thence seven years ago and hath been in several services and last of all with one Mrs Smith in Bedford Court beyond Red Lyon Square seven months, that she was hired in Cooper of Fife aforesaid to one captain Honeyman, a Ship's Captain whom she there served at a place called Crayle about a week then set Sail and in about three weeks arrived in London, about a fortnight after their arrival her said master took house in George Street York Buildings in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that she there served a year more and upwards, that she quitted that service about six years ago and never lived a year in any one service since or kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes.
