DescriptionRead the Petition of Mary Smith, 21 years of age, a native of the Parish of St. Giles in the Fields. Her Father a watch engraver, lives No. 15. Goswell street, & has four children besides Petitioner. She has been employed by her Father in piercing watches & had always plenty of work; till about 4 months ago (as she says) she was persuaded by an old woman, of whom she knew little to enter a house in a court in Wood street Cheapside, in order to steal some linen. She was apprehended in the fact & was convicted at the Old Bailey; but sentence respited, that she might be sent to the Refuge. Admitted.
