DescriptionJohn Mason 25 years of age a Hairdresser - recommended by Mr. Capper having been in the Bellerophon Hulk 4 years, from whence he was discharged last November. He was born at Liverpool - he believes:- never knew his Father nor Mother: Father a Soldier in the Guards, & dying, left a son & a daughter, who were taken under the care of one Warren, paymaster of the company - at the charge of Captain Bryant. Warren settled at Northampton, where Petitioner was educated. Subsequently he was apprenticed to Mr. Day of Tavistock street, Covent Garden Hairdresser, with whom he served 5 years. His indentures were then cancelled for his having borrowed ?3 - in his master's name. Afterwards being in deep distress he stole an Umbrella from a Butcher (Carter) in Gray's Inn Lane, for which crime he was sentenced to be transported for seven years. Warren & his wife are dead and Petitioner has not a friend in the world. Since his discharge from the Hulks, he has been employed for seven weeks by Mrs. Lincoln, who keeps a Barber's shop, in Flask Walk, Hampstead, from whom he can have a character. He left the situation, because the former shopman returned to his mistress. Ordered to be subsisted for One week.
