But before the Question was put for the several Can-
-didates It was Resolved and Agreed that no more
than Four Pence in the Pound should be allowed for
Collecting the said Rate
And on the Question being put for the several
Candidates there appeared a great Majority for Mr.
John George< no role >
who was thereupon appointed Collector
of the Watch Rate accordingly
A Motion made and the Question
put whether a Lecture Sermon be preached in this
Parish Church every Sunday during the Winter
half Year the Expence of which to be paid by the
Churchwardens and allowed in their Accounts
the Rector having given the use of the Pulpit for
that Purpose.
It passed in the Negative.
Upon which a Subscription was immediately
opened and several Gentlemen present subscribed
thereto to support the said Sunday Evening Lecture.
Signed the Watch Rate from
Midsummer 1767, to Midsummer 1768 at Four
Pence in the Pound Rents
Resolved and Agreed That hand Bills be printed
and delivered to all House keepers (not under the
direction of the Commissioners for paving Westminstr.
&c) in this Parish Reciting the 15th. Sect. of the 8th.
Cap: of the 2d. of William and Mary for the better
lighting the Streets and that in the said Bills In-
-formation be given them that the said Clause will
be put in Execution against Defaulters Imme-
-diately.And that it be likewise Noticed in the
said Hand Bills that the Beadles of this Parish
have strict Orders to lay Information before the
Justices against all Persons offending against said Act.
