Middlesex

to wit Joseph Lewis< no role > of the Parish of St. Clement Danes
in the County of Middlesex Yeoman maketh Oath that on or
about the Twenty Sixth day of October in the year of Our
Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Seventy Three this
Deponent rented a Certain House of Mr. James Higley< no role > called or known by the
Name or Sign of the the York Arms situate in Little Shire Lane
in the said Parish of Saint Clement Danes and lived therein
for five Months or upwards to the best of his remembrance
at the yearly Rent of Thirty Pounds but does not remember
to have paid any Taxes due for the Same And this Deponent
further saith that the Goods which were then standing in
the House and which belonged to the said Mr. Higley were
appraised and Valued to him this Deponent but he not being
at that time possessed of so much Cash this Deponent applyed
to one Mr. Bevan of Hatton Garden a friend of his who
became Security or passed his Word to the said Mr. Higley
for payment of the same and the said Mr. Bevan accordingly
lent this Deponent Twenty Pounds which this Deponent
Soon afterwards paid to the said Mr. Higley for abovementd.
Goods Liquors Etc as by the said Mr. Higleys receipt may
appear And this Deponent further saith that he was not
put into the said House either by the said Mr. Higley or the
said Mr. Beavan as a Trustee for them or either of them
but upon his own Account only
