to wit Sarah Downes< no role > This name instance is in set 8980. aged about 27 years upon her
Oath saith she never was married Rented House or
paid Taxes says she lived as a hired yearly Servant
with one Mr Anderson who kept the five Bells in Holywell
Street in the Parish of Saint Clement Danes in the County of
Middlesex for 14 Months and upwards at the yearly wages
of Seven Pounds hath quitted said Service about 3 years ago
since which time she has done no Act Matter or thing
whereby she may have gained a Settlement elsewhere
And further on her Voluntary Oath says [..]
[..] that on the 23d. day of Novr. last past she was
delivered of a Male Bastard Child in the Workhouse
belonging to the Parish of Saint Clement Danes which
has not yet be on baptized And further saith that one Richard
Long
< no role > who lives as a Servant with one Mr. Hillan
Attorney at No. 15 Coney Court Grays Inn is the father
of the said Child he having had Carnal Knowledge of this
Deponents Body sometime in the Month of March last
and at several different times since at one of which time
he did beget the said Child of which she was so
delivered as aforesaid and that he and no one else
is the father of the said Child and that she is poor
and unable to maintain the same
