THE ORDINARY of NEWGATE, His ACCOUNT of the Behaviour, Confession, &c.

AT the King's Commission of Oyer and Terminer, and Goal-delivery of Newgate, held (before the Right Hon. GEORGE HEATHCOTE< no role > , Esquire, Lord-Mayor of the City of London ; the Honourable Sir JOHN STRANGE< no role > , Knt. Recorder ; and the Right Worshipful Mr. Serjeant URLIN, Deputy-Recorder of the City of London, and Others his Majesty's Justices of Oyer and Terminer for the said City and Justices of Goal-Delivery of Newgate, for the City of London, and County of Middlesex) at Justice-Hall in the Old-Baily , on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Monday, the 9th , 10th , 11th , and 13th of September , in the Sixteenth Year of his Majesty's Reign.

Ten Men, viz. John Cooper< no role > , John Jennings< no role > , John Squires< no role > , Edward White< no role > , Christopher Peterson< no role > , Matthew Mooney< no role > , George Anderson< no role > , Richard Studder< no role > , Henry Hinton< no role > , and William Edwards< no role > , and one Woman, viz. Jane Wood< no role > , were by the Jury convicted of capital Offences, and received Sentence of Death. Also,

At the King's Commission of Oyer and Terminer, and Goal delivery of Newgate, held (before the Right Hon. GEORGE HEATHCOTE< no role > , Esquire, Lord-Mayor of the City of London , the Right Honorable the Lord Chief Justice LEE; the Honourable Mr. Baron REYNOLDS; the Worshipful Mr. Serjeant URLIN, Deputy Recorder of London; and Others his Majesty's Justices of Oyer and Terminer for the City of London, and Justices of Goal-delivery of Newgate, for the said City and County of Middlesex) at Justice-Hall in the Old-Baily , on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the 13th , 14th , and 15th of October , in the Sixteenth Year of his Majesty's Reign.

Five Men, viz. Richard Arnold< no role > , Robert Bird< no role > , or Budd< no role > , Thomas Homan< no role > , William Bird< no role > , and Wm. Dixon< no role > , were by the Jury capitally convicted, and sentenced to die.

While under Sentence, they were exhorted diligently to consider what a great Work they had to do, to secure themselves an Interest in the Kingdom of Heaven, which shall never be taken from them; and more especially, since their Time was so short, to double their Diligence, in working out the great Work of their Souls Salvation, while it is called to day; their eternal Happiness or Misery depending upon the few remaining Moments.
