<p n="954">Admittance into the Church But afterwards having sign'd<lb></lb>
a Declaration whereby he renounced all Jurisdiction in or<lb></lb>
over the Same And Declared that the Visitation then ap-<lb></lb>
pointed was only by reason that the Church of St. Saviours<lb></lb>
where the Visitation had been usually held was then<lb></lb>
repairing and not fit for that Purpose And further that<lb></lb>
if the said intended Visitation was Permitted by the Gover-<lb></lb>
nors to be then held in St. Thomas's Church the same<lb></lb>
should not be drawn into Example nor made use of as<lb></lb>
a Precedent or ever given in Evidence for bringing or Sub-<lb></lb>
jecting the said Church to or under the Visitation or<lb></lb>
Jurisdiction of the said Bishop of Winchester or his<lb></lb>
Successors He was thereupon Permitted to hold the<lb></lb>
Visitation in the said Church for that time</p>

of this Hospital on this Occasion We were Advi-<lb></lb>
sed That by Virtue of the said Letters Patent the Minister<lb></lb>
and Church Wardens of the said Parish of St. Thomas<lb></lb>
are not Subject to any Ecclesiastical Visitation or Juris-<lb></lb>
diction whatsoever And being Unanimously of that Opi-<lb></lb>
nion and desirous to Preserve and Secure to Us and our<lb></lb>
Successors the several Rights Priviledges & Exemptions<lb></lb>
Granted by the said Letter Patent We Ordered the Clerk<lb></lb>
of this Hospital to Given notice of the said Resolution Do<lb></lb>
the said Mr. Trehearn and Mr. Core and forbid them to<lb></lb>
Attend the said Visitation at the same time acquainting<lb></lb>
them that we were Determin'd to Defend at our own Expence<lb></lb>
the said Church Wardens against any Suit that might be<lb></lb>
Commenced against them for such their Non Attendance<lb></lb>
Notwithstanding which Notice the said Mr. Tretrearn and<lb></lb>
Mr. Core did Attend at the said Visitation & were presented<lb></lb>
in Order to be Sworn into the said Office And the said<lb></lb>
Mr. Crespigney then Attending with the Clerk of this<lb></lb>
Hospital Gave in an Allegation against the Swearing in<lb></lb>
the said Church Wardens and prevented the Same being<lb></lb>
then done whereupon a Suit is now Instituted in order<lb></lb>
to Determine the Right of the Hospital in a Judicial<lb></lb>
manner</p>
<p n="956">And We further Report that the said<lb></lb>
Mr. Crespigney having Generoursly Undertaken to carry<lb></lb>
on the said Suit in order to Assert the Rights of the Hos-<lb></lb>
pital in this Instance (Which we Conceive to be of Great<lb></lb>
Importance) without taking any Fees the Unanimously</p>
