The Humble Petition of Louis Francois

but now a prisoner in the House of Correction
at Clerkenwell
Sheweth
That Your Petitioner was on or about the first day of
July last Convicted by the Name and description of Louis
Desperroys of the parish of Saint Luke Chelsea in the County of
Middlesex
in the penalty of Twenty Pounds by
John Spiller< no role >
Esqr
one of His Majestys Justices of the peace
for the said County for
having as therein alledged on the 10th day of June last contrary
to the form of the Statute in that Case made and provided
unlawfully used and were as an Article of his Dress certain
Powder commonly called Hair powder in the parish aforesaid
without having obtained a Certificate of the proper Officer of Stamps in
the County of Middlesex
for the Division where Your Petitioner
then resided by which Conviction Your Petitioner conceives
himself to be aggrieved
Your Petitioner therefore humbly begs leave
to appeal against the said conviction
and prays that Your Worships will be
pleased to appoint some day in the
present Session to hear and determine
the said appeal and that all persons
concerned may then attend
And Your Petitioner shall ever pray Etc
