Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Battersea
in the County of Surry.
Sheweth
That by an order bearing date the 19th. day of May 1797
under the Hands and Seals of

and H Cosser
Esquires
two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
acting in
and for the City and Liberty of Westminster
grounded on the
Complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of
the Parish of Saint Margaret
in the said City and Liberty,
That
Jane Wood< no role >
wife of
James Wood< no role >
and her four Children
namely
William< no role >
aged Six years,
Sarah< no role >
aged Four years
Jane< no role >
aged three years and
Mary< no role >
aged One year have lately
intruded and come into the said Parish of Saint Margaret
and become Chargeable.
That the said Joseph Moser< no role >
and H. Cosser, upon
examination of the Premises upon Oath and other Circumstances
did adjudge the same to be true, and did also adjudge
the Place of the last legal Settlement of the said Jane Wood< no role >
and her said Four Children to be in your Petitioners said
Parish of Battersea
. By which said Order your Petitioners
think themselves aggrieved.
Your Petitioners therefore humbly pray, That
Your Worships will take the same into Consideration
and grant them such relief as the nature of their
case may requrie.
