The Information of Andrew Buck< no role > of Hoxton in the Parish
of Saint Leonard Shoreditch in the said county Bricklayer
and John Roderick< no role > of Pitfield Street Hoxton aforesaid Lock
Smith taken on Oath before me one of His Majesty's Justices
of the Peace in and for the said County this Twenty third
day of June 1794.

The said Andrew Buck< no role > saith That on the twelfth day of May
last, there was feloniously stolen taken and carrier away
three Iron reen Cocks from off the Doors of two new Houses
in Gloucester Street Hoxton aforesaid, his Property; And further
saith that the Lock now produced by this Informant is one of the
said Locks so stolen as aforesaid, which Lock this Informant
found in the Shop of the said John Roderick< no role > , on Saturday last
the Twenty first Instant, And this Informant saith that the
said Lock is of the Value of Nine shillings. That this informant
acquainted the said John Roderick< no role > , (when he discovered the Lock) that
it had been stolen from this Informant, and the said John
Roderick
< no role > then told this Informant, that he had bought the
said Lock of Thomas Sutton< no role > the prisoner under Examination
who keeps an old Iron Shop in Holywell Street Shoreditch , for five
shillings and a pint of Beer, on Friday last (which this
Informant believes to be true) And this Informant further
saith that he afterwards called upon the Prisoner, and on
questoning him concerning the Lock, he declared to this informant
that he bought the said Lock, whwith another, but refused to tell
from whom, or what Money he gave for it, or when he bought it,
and behaved very insolent, and did not give any satisfactory
Account how he came by the same, that the Prisoner hath
this day told this Informant that he gave three shillings and
Six pence for the Lock produced, and that he bought it of a
Man whose Names he does not know, and whom he said has
since gone to sea And this Informant further saith thatth
he verily believes and suspects that the Prisoner bought and received
the said Lock (this Informants property) well knowing the same
to have been stolen.
