John Tye< no role > late of the Parish of Saint Marylebone Builder for a certain Misdr. in
maliciously wilfully and injuriously putting placeing fixing
and setting up and causing and procuring to be put placed
fixed and set up near to the back part of the Dwelling House
of the said John Hatton< no role > a certain rediculous ludicrous
scandalous monstrous and disgraceful Effegy or Figure
having the resemblance and similitude of a human figure
and which was intended and meant by the said John Tye< no role >
to represent the said John Hatton< no role > and putting placing
fixing and setting and causing and procuring to be put
placed fixed and set over upon and above the sd. Effegy or
Figure a certain large board upon which was painted in
large Letters the Words and Inscription following of and
concerning the said John Hatton< no role > ''. To be sold for ready Money
ready Money, ready Money a poor American pensioner
(meaning him the said John Hatton< no role > : And the said John
Tye
< no role > and one Mary then and there did cry out and call
to him the said John Hatton< no role > and say to him in the
presence and hearing of divers persons there assembled
to look at the said Effegy or Figure, You old Scoundrel
look at your Picture you damned Scoundrel We (meaning
the said John Tye< no role > and the said Mary his Wife will not
take less than Two Hundred Guineas for it; On the 1st.
day of April last.

2d. CountFor putting and placing and causing and procuring to be
put and placed in and upon a certain Stage in the
Garden of the said John Tye< no role > before and near to the
dwelling House of the said John Hatton< no role > the said Effegy or
Figure having an Iron Chain about its Neck intended
to represent he said John Hatton< no role > , and placing and putting
up the said Board with the said Inscription over the sd.
Effegy, and the said John Tye< no role > then and there requested
and desired every Person who passed and repassed that
way to come and look as the said Effegy or Figure and at
the same time informed every such Person that it was the Picture
of Old Hatton: On the 15th. day of April last.
