That your Petitioner was on or about the 7th day<lb></lb>
of October instant convicted in the Penalty £10 by <rs type="persName" id="LMSMPS50838_n36-1">William Hyde</rs>

one of his Majesty's Justices for the said County for that your<lb></lb>
Petitioner being a Person licensed to let out. Horses to hire for the<lb></lb>
purposes travelling Post by the Mile & from Stage to Stage and<lb></lb>
residing within 5 Miles of the Head Office for Stamps did not<lb></lb>
nor would on the 23d. & 24th days of July 1788 being the Times appointed<lb></lb>
for that purpose by the Commissioners for putting in Excution a<lb></lb>
Certain Act of Parliament made & passed in the 25th Year of the Reign<lb></lb>
of his present Majesty's Intitled An Act for repealing Duties on<lb></lb>
Licences taken out by Persons letting Horses for the purposes of<lb></lb>
travelling Post Etc. (at the Public Notice thereof was given in<lb></lb>
the Gazette) bring in or deliver to <rs type="persName" id="LMSMPS50838_n36-2">John Sargeant</rs>

<interp inst="LMSMPS50838_n36-2" type="surname" value="Sargeant"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50838_n36-2" type="gender" value="male"></interp>
being the<lb></lb>
Person appointed by the said Commissioners for the purpose of<lb></lb>
receiving the same at the Office appointed for the reception<lb></lb>
of the Duty on Post Horses the Accounts that is to say the<lb></lb>
Stamp Office Weekly Accounts in that Behalf directed in and by<lb></lb>
the said Act of Parliament for the 4 Weeks ending on the Saturday<lb></lb>
preceeding such days of delivery but therein failed.</p>
<p n="37">And your Petitioner thinking himself aggrieved thereby<lb></lb>
humbly begs leave to appeal from such Conviction<lb></lb>
And that you will please to appoint a Day in the<lb></lb>
present Session for the that purpose</p>
