Session House for Middlesex
Thursday 29th November 1787.

Minutes of the Committee appointed to give Directions
for the Repairs necessary to be done at the New Prison & House
of Correction at Clerkenwell

Present

Mr Newport the keeper of the New Prison having laid
before the Commee a State of the Repairs necessary to be done at
that Prison The Commee thought it expendient to Order the following
alterations and repairs to be forthwith done Vizt.

The two Floors of the Lower Ward of the Mens Side to be
repaired

The Lodge Floor to be repaired
A new Fire place in the Womens Shed to be made under the
direction of Mr Wood

The Water Pipe at the back of the Prison to be repaired

And directed Mr. Wood to use his endeavoures to cure the
Chimney in the Sick Ward on the Mens Side of smoaking

That Mr Wood be desired to take a View of the Prisons & make a
Report of any other Repairs necessary to be done at either of them

That the Considn. of what may be necessary & proper to be done
to the House late the Tap belonging to the New Prison be adjourned to the next
Meeting of the Commee

Two Green Curtains to draw on Brass Rods to be placed on each
side of the Court on the Bench over the little Doors.

The Evidence Box to be raised two steps higher

Adjourned to Friday the 7th December
at 11 o' clock
