Session House for Middlesex
7th November 1787

Minutes of the Committee appointed to enquire whether the
duty of the Surveyors under the building Act 14th Geo: 3d. Cap 78 hath
been and is duly Executed

Took into Consideration the order of reference to this Committee
made on the County day of the last Session Vizt. To enquire
"whether the Duty of the Surveyors for this County hath been and
"is duty executed agreeably to the directions contained in the Act of
"Parliament in that case made and provided" and the Committee
having Inspected the Act of Parliament above mentioned and
had several of the Clauses therein read to them and fully
Investigated and considered the same and having Examined
into the several matters pointed out and referred to by the said Act

Resolved it appears to this Committee that in some
of the Districts in this County the Office of Surveyor under the
abovementioned Act of Parliament is executed by Deputy

Resolved it appears to this Committee that in most
of the Districts in this County improper materials are frequently
made use of in the Erection of Buildings and Party Walls; that
each Buildings and Party Walls have been afterwards surveyed and the
Improper Materials suffered to remain therein

Resolved it appears to this Committee that
the Construction and Thickness of Party Walls in most of the
Districts in this County are not in many Instances conformable
to the Directions of the Act of parliament abovementioned
