That by a certain Conviction under the
Hand and Seal of

One of His Majesties
Justices of the peace
for the said County of Middlesex
bearing
date the 23rd. Day of August 1783 your petitioner was
Convicted before the said Justice For that he Your Petr.
being a Retail dealer in Gloves
on the 19th day of August then
last past at the parish of Saint Gills
aforesaid in the County
aforesaid did Unlawfully sell Two Gloves made of Woollen
materials above the price or value of Ten pence and not
exceeding the price or value of One shilling and Four Pence
Subject to a Stamp duty of Two Pence imposed in and by a
certain Act of Parliament made and passed in the Twenty
fifth year of his present Majesty's Reign for granting to his
Majesty certain Duties on licences to be taken out by persons
rending Gloves and Millens and also certain Duties on Gloves
and Mittens sold by Retail without the Stamp Ticket directed
by the said Act to be affixed to the Same being fixed and
marked and stamped in upon or to the said Gloves or either
of them as by the said Act is directed And contrary to the
Statute in such Case made and provideder
That
