To the Worshipfull His Majestys Justices of the
peace for the County of Middlesex in General
Quarter Sessions of the Peace Assembled

The Humble Petition and Appeale of Henry Southey< no role >

Sheweth


That by an Order under the hands of Thomas
Wood
< no role > and Richard Taylor< no role > Esquires Two of his Majestys
Justices of the peace for the said County of Middlesex (one) being
of the Quorum) bearing date the 10th day of November 1784
concerning a Male Bastard Child lately born in the
Parish of Laleham in the County of Middlesex of the
Body of Sincere Ford Single Woman (as alledged by the
said order) Upon the Complaint of the Churchwardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Laleham
Your Petitioner is adjudged to be the reputed Father of
the said Bastard Child and is thereby ordered to pay
to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
said Parish the Sum of Two Pounds and six pence
for the Lying in of the said Sincere Ford And also
the sum of One Shilling and Six pence Weekly for
and Towards the maintenance of the said Bastard
Child for so long Time as the said Bastard Child
shall be Chargeable to the said Parish

That Your Petitioner apprehends
himself to be aggreived by the said
Order and therefore humbly appeals
against the same and Prays Relief
in the Premises and that the benefit
of this Your Petitioners Appeal may
be saved unto him and that the
hearing and determining thereof
may be adjourned untill the next
General Sessions of the Peace for 6
the said County
