the time being should have power to appoint Officers of the Court of<lb></lb>
Sessions should appoint where such Court house should be and likewise<lb></lb>
a <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50785_occ8">Keeper of the Prison</rs>

the Steward of the Court of the said Liberty to be<lb></lb>
Coroner of the said Liberty and that the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50785_occ9">Justices of the Peace</rs>

within the<lb></lb>
said Liberty should have full power to commit all Traytors Felons and<lb></lb>
other Criminals and Offenders taken or apprehended within the said<lb></lb>
Liberty unto Newgate</p>
<p n="22">Resolved it appears to this Committee that Commissions of the<lb></lb>
peace for the said Liberty have from time to time issued under the Great<lb></lb>
Seal of <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMPS50785_geo28">England</rs>

<interp inst="LMSMPS50785_geo28" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
and that there is now a subsisting Commission of the<lb></lb>
Peace for the said Liberty</p>
<p n="23">Read the Act of the 12th. Year of the Reign of his late Majesty<lb></lb>
King George the 2d. entitled "An Act for the more easy assessing and collecting<lb></lb>
County Rates whereby it appears That from and after the 1st. day of September<lb></lb>
1739 the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50785_occ10">Justices of the Peace</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50785_occ10" type="occupation" value="Justices of the Peace"></interp>
in that part of Great Britain called <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMPS50785_geo29">England</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50785_geo29" type="placeName" value="England"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50785_geo29" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
<lb></lb>
within the respective limits of their Commissions at their General or Quarter<lb></lb>
Sessions or the greater part of them then and there assembled shall have full<lb></lb>
power and Authority, from time to time to make one General Rate or<lb></lb>
Assessment for such Sum or Sums of Money as they in their discretions<lb></lb>
shall think sufficient to answer all and every the ends and purposes of<lb></lb>
the several Acts of Parliament in that Case made instead and in him of<lb></lb>
the several seperate and district Rates directed thereby to be made levied<lb></lb>
and collected which Rate shall be assessed upon every Town Parish or<lb></lb>
place within the respective limits of their Commissions, in such<lb></lb>
Proportions as any of the Rates heretofore made in pursuance of the said<lb></lb>
several acts have been usually assessed and the several and respective<lb></lb>
Sums so assessed upon each and every Town Parish or Place within the<lb></lb>
respective Limits of their Commissions shall be collected by the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50785_occ11">High<lb></lb>
Constables</rs>

of the respective Hundreds and divisions in which any<lb></lb>
Town Parish or Place doth lie, in such manner and at such times as<lb></lb>
is hereinafter directed:</p>
<p n="24">Provided always and be it Enacted by the Authority aforesaid<lb></lb>
that this Act or any thing herein contained shall not extend or be<lb></lb>
construed to extend to make any Persons Liberties Divisions or<lb></lb>
Places liable to pay to any Rate to be made in pursuance of this Act<lb></lb>
to which such Person Liberty Division or Place did not or was not<lb></lb>
liable to contribute before the passing hereof but that it shall and may<lb></lb>
be lawful to and for the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50785_occ12">Justices of the Peace</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50785_occ12" type="occupation" value="Justices of the Peace"></interp>
at their respective General<lb></lb>
or Quarter Sessions or the greater part of them then and there assembled<lb></lb>
to order and as certain what proportion of any Rate to be made by<lb></lb>
virtue of this act shall be assessed on and paid by the several persons</p>
